IPY provides an opportunity to focus on the human health issues of northern communities. The Arctic Human Health Initiative will advance and expand the joint research agenda of the Arctic Council and the International Union for Circumpolar Health. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health are partners in the initiative.
